Not a big thing, but it would be nice if grid-cert-request could generate a
certificate request from the existing certificate (for example, where a
certificate has expired, and as such a new one must be requested).

There is a C client called grid-cert-renew - is that the functionality you are 
looking for ? Do you need this in Java ?
