Description From 2005-05-10 14:16:14
Any clue as the what would cause the behavior below? From the globus
function names I suspect it has something to do with my hostname not
being in DNS (it's a laptop using DHCP), though 'vons-mac' is in /etc/hosts. If
so I'm not sure how to work around.

This is first time trying to run GT4 gridftpd on my Mac (10.3). I'll attach a
kernel trace of the system calls though nothing jumps out at me from it.

This is probably a dup of 3107, but we haven't been able to figure out the
exact problem yet. We have seen that if the /etc/hosts lines have an alias on
the same line as your fqdn, as in:
1.1.1.1 f.q.d.n f
this problem happens. No alias as:
1.1.1.1 f.q.d.n
seems to work.

Can you tell me what sw_vers reports, and also if that /etc/hosts change helps?

Mike

(vons-mac) ~>sw_vers
ProductName: Mac OS X
ProductVersion: 10.3.9
BuildVersion: 7W98

I've tried both:
127.0.0.1 vons-mac.ncsa.uiuc.edu
and:
127.0.0.1 vons-mac
in /etc/hosts with no difference. This is in addition to the following line:
127.0.0.1 localhost
