Improve RLS documentation: We need to update the documentation to reflect our recent greater emphasis on the use of binaries for installation. Also need to update database documentation, with particular emphasis on ODBC libraries such as UNIX ODBC. We will also review and update command line and API documentation.
Major improvement to administrator/installation guide.
An extensive evaluation of RLS prerequisite software was done. Major pitfalls in the installation process were examined and troubleshooting tips were documented. For instance, known working combinations of iodbc, unixODBC, Postgres ODBC libraries, MySQL ODBC libraries, Postgres servers, and MySQL servers were tested and documented along with configure options that seemed ideally suited to each known combination of popular software. The installation guide was completely rewritten to improve its organization as well as its completeness. With the release of embedded database support for RLS, the guide was again revisited. This time the changes were relatively minor. Many of the once required manual steps are now optional for interested power users. The extensive work done in the previous iteration of the guide is still relevant and important to current and future users of RLS.
